Charlotte is home to Lake Norman, the largest freshwater lake in North Carolina! There are several water sport rental companies and numerous restaurants on the lake with great views. And if you are up for a little dirty dancing, Lake Lure is less than 2 hours away!
The Queen City is home to several beautiful parks. Lake Norman State Park and Jetton Park follow Lake Norman’s shoreline and have breathtaking views. Freedom Park is in Charlotte’s historic Dillworth and Myers Park neighborhoods. It is located on a 7- acre lake, and is about 3 miles from the heart of downtown. And the list of parks goes on and on…
There are also beautiful wineries like Childress, Laurel Haven Estate and Daveste Vineyards. The Biltmore Estate has a gorgeous winery and fun tasting and is less than one and a half hours away.
Sycamore Brewing, The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, and Lost Worlds are all great breweries just to name a few. And if you are up for a little road trip, Sierra Nevada is less than two hours away.

Charlotte is nestled between the mountains and the ocean, so if you are up for a few hours drive, a fun getaway can be in your future! Wilmington, Jekyll Island, and Hilton Head are our beach favs! And Grandfathers Mountain, Boone, Slippery Rock and Asheville are all popular mountain destinations.
You’ll be in Charlotte just in time for the big race! The NASCAR All-Star Race roars back into historic North Wilkesboro Speedway, May 16-18, 2025. There will be thrilling concerts, family fun and awesome racing action! Snag your tickets early.
